We Deal With People

I realized that when I write about meeting with hospitals that it casts an impersonal light on the institutions we work with. We are working with people with whom we have established a personal relationship. The better the relationship the better the accountability. Today’s meeting at Kikuyu Orthopedic Rehabilitation Center, was with the chief administrator of Kikuyu Hospital (the overall owner of Rehab), Joel, a representative of the finance department of the hospital, Ann, an accountant from Rehab, Cecelia, and Dr. Sang the surgeon in charge off Rehab. They are in the picture, along with Stu Ross, a member of the WRF board. We can have forthright discussion about our relationship.

We spent some time in the operating rooms getting pictures as we start to consider planning similar orthopedic operating rooms for Chogoria.

We, also, spent some time with Mr. Choi, a Korean prosthetist and follower of Jesus. He has dedicated his life to working in mission hospitals. He has been at Rehab since before it opened. He is a master technician. He travels to some of the most dangerous parts of Kenya and Somalia fitting prosthetic limbs, hundreds of which have been payed for by LG the company that makes electronics and appliances. We are grateful for their support.

Tomorrow we travel to Kajiado children’s home for disabled children where we support administrative expense and pay for the children’s orthopedic care.

Blessings,

Doug
