January 19

We just returned from our safari. While the drive to the Maasai Mara is long( 5.5 hours) the drives around the Mara never disappoint. There is always something you have never seen before. Of interest is that all the safari guides communicate with each other to enable visitors like us to see as much as possible. We saw four of the big five animals. We saw many lions, elephants, and Cape buffalo. We saw one leopard but couldn’t find a rhinoceros. Of course there were giraffes, zebras, gazelles of many species, hyenas, jackals and any birds. There were many hippos in the river outside our tent door.(glamping) also, a very large crocodile.

There was a lion pride sleeping after killing a large gazelle. The pecking order is the males, females, and cubs. Waiting for them to leave to clean up were the hyenas, jackals,  and buzzards. Between all of them nothing is wasted.

It is a marvel of God’s creation.
