September 16

This will be delayed reaching you as I do have internet access this evening. We left Kikuyu about 9 am, our route dictated by the massive road reconstruction. I have mentioned in the past  that the changes in microclimate along the way reveal different agriculture. The first area north of Nairobi is a pineapple and avocado growing area. There is a huge DelMonte pineapple and avocado plantation. It is so big that there are villages contained within it. Next there is one of the biggest rice growing areas. The rice is dried on large sheets of plastic then scooped by hand into the bags you see in the picture. As the terrain becomes more hilly and mountainous the crops are bananas, coffee, tea, and the plant called kaat or miraa. I wrote extensively about it last May. The chemically produced equivalent is Ecstasy. There is picture of the terrain.

Lunch was Nyama chroma. It is goat that is boiled in the large vats, then grilled to finish it. The pictures show the vats, grill, and finished product. The Kenyans eat it with Ugali and kale. I had fries. Just good old fries no coating.

We arrived here at 6:30. I was delighted to find Gary and Karen here. They have had a productive week. Gary has one more day of surgery tomorrow then they leave Wednesday.

I am meeting with the CEO of Maua Methodist hospital to finalize our working agreement.

Please like, share and donate. Your interest and prayers are greatly appreciated.

Blessings
