August 25

I started the day in a conference with the interns and residents on the surgical service. The discussion was about the ethics of caring for the patient and families as a patient approached death and when the patient died. It was a good discussion that wouldn’t have taken place 13 years ago, but now is important one the care and in preventing medical legal problems. We then met with the senior management team to review the process of successfully building the new  operating rooms and future needs for equipment. They are very easy to work with, competent, and trustworthy.

We then moved on to tour the new operating suite. It is well done, and functions well. On room is always reserved for orthopedic surgery.  I have attached a couple of pictures.

We then reviewed the the orthopedic patients in the hospital. From one motorcycle accident there were two very severe pelvis fractures. I don’t know that there are two injuries per year at home like these. Unfortunately the driver of the cycle was killed.

I spent some time seeing orthopedic patients in the clinic with the residents. It is fun to teach again.

Not that it is all work, we had a fish lunch at a restaurant in the nearby hills that farms it own fish. I would show you a picture but there are technical problems.

Traveling tomorrow.

Thank you for supportive comments and prayers.

Blessings
